Burdwan University Distance Education

The University of Burdwan aims at to provide wider access to higher education to persons of all ages in any part of the country - particularly to working persons - who, for different reasons, cannot undergo the higher courses of studies as regular full-time students of the University.
It provides a system of student-centered self-paced learning which will neither be entirely separate from nor wholly independent of the formal, full-time campus system of education as traditionally followed in University departments of studies.

Burdwan University Distance Education Eligibility Criteria
M. A. Courses
- A minimum 2nd class Honours (regular or special) Graduate in the relevant subject having pursued the course in the 10 + 2 + 3 pattern from any recognised University
- An unsuccessful honours graduate of 10 + 2 + 3 pattern who obtained pass degree certificate of three-year course securing at least 35% marks in aggregate in the relevant subject.
- A minimum 2nd class Honours (regular or special) graduate in the relevant subject of the old 11 + 3 pattern.
- A pass graduate in the 10 + 2 + 3 pattern having offered the relevant subject as a combination / elective one (of not less than 300 marks at the degree stage) securing strictly minimum 40% marks in it.
- B.Sc. / B.Com. / B.A. Pass graduates who subsequently passed Special B.A. (of not less than 300 marks) in the relevant subject securing strictly minimum 40% marks in it.
- A pass graduate in the 10 + 2 + 2 / 10 + 1 + 3 / 11 + 3 pattern from any recognised institution who subsequently passed One-year bridge Course in the relevant subject (of not less than 300 marks in case of combination / Elective subjects) and thus became equivalent to Pass graduates of 10 + 2 + 3 pattern securing at least 40% marks in it.
- An M.A. in a subject willing to do M.A. in any other subject offered through Correspondence Mode irrespective of whether that subject was offered by him / her at the degree stage provided that no M.A. in any professional subject like Music, Drama, Film studies, Physical Education (M.P.Ed.), General Education (M.Ed.) etc. is entitled to this special provision. Provided further that no M.A. in Islamic History and Culture or Ancient History and Culture from any University is entitled to do M.A. again in History from this University.
M. Com. Course
- A minimum 2nd class Honours graduate in Commerce having pursued the course in the 10 + 2 + 3 pattern from any recognised University.
- An unsuccessful honours graduate of 10 + 2 + 3 pattern who obtained pass degree certificate of three-year course securing at least 35% marks in aggregrate in Commerce.
- A minimum 2nd Class Honours (regular or special) graduate in commerce of the 11 + 3 pattern.
- A pass commerce graduate in the 10 + 2 + 3 pattern securing strictly minimum 40 % marks in aggregate.
- A pass commerce graduate in the 10 + 2 + 2 / 10 + 1 + 3 / 11 + 3 pattern from any recognized Institution, who subsequently studied one-year Bridge Course in the relevant subject and thus became equivalent to pass graduates of 10 + 2 + 3 pattern securing at least 40% marks in it.
M.A./M.Sc. in Mathematics
- A minimum 2nd class Honours (Regular or Special) Graduate in Mathematics having pursued the course in the 10+2+3 pattern from any recognised University
- An unsuccessful Honours Graduate of the pattern (a) who after having pursued the Honours Course in both the Part-I and Part-II stages obtained Pass Degree Certificate of Three-year course securing at least 35% marks in aggregrate (in Honours Subject)
- A minimum 2nd Class Honouurs (Regular or Special) Graduate in Mathematics having pursued the course under the old 11+3 pattern
- A B.A. / B.Sc. Pass Graduates in the 10+2+3 pattern having offered Mathematics as combination/elective one (of not less than 300 marks) at the Degree stage securing at least 50% marks in it, or (e) A B.A. / B.Sc. Pass Graduates in the 10+2+2 / 10+1+3 / 11+3 / pattern from any recognize Institution who subsequently passed One-year Bridege Course in Mathematics (of not less than 300 marks at the degree stage) and thus became equivalent.
M.A./M.Sc. in Remote Sensing & Geographic Information System
- Any B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc. Honours in any subject including agriculture / B.A. Honours in any Geography / any Arts graduate (of 10+2+3 pattern) having Geography combination with at least 45% marks in Geography at degree level / one year PG Diploma in Remote Sensing & GIS from any recognised university or any institution recognised by the Government can get lateral entry to 2nd semester. However he / she has to appear all four semester examinations.
M.Sc. in Computer Science
- B.Sc. Honours in Computer Science / B.C.A. Honours / B.E. or equivalent / B.Sc. Honours in Mathematics / Statistics / Electronics / Physics / Chemistry with Computer Science as one of the combination subjects / DOEACC A-level or its equivalent / PGDCA from State Council of Technical Education of Govt. of West Bengal.
Master of Business Administration (Insurance & Risk Management)
- Any Honours/Pass graduate under (10+2+3) system from any recognised University
- Any Engineering / Pharmacy graduate with minimum 60% marks
- Any graduate under (10+2+2) system who subsequently passed one-year Bridge Course from any recognised University
- Any graduate from any recognised university with at least three years supervisory / managerial / professional experience in any company registered with the Registrar of the companies.
